Elena Popovskaya was born in Novosibirsk.
She got the secondary education in Novosibirsk Music College named after A.F. Murov (piano course, class of L.S. Yuy). In 1983 she graduated from piano course of Novosibirsk State Conservatory (Academy) named after M.I. Glinka (the class of professor D.L. Shevchuk). In parallel with the main specialty she had been studying for four years at Z.G. Feldgun in the organ class.
Since 1983 she had worked at the Novosibirsk Conservatory on the chair of choral conducting and general piano.
From 1987 to 1995 she was the accompanist of the Chamber Choir of Novosibirsk Philharmonic.
In 1989 in Riga she passed an internship on harpsichord (class of A. Kalnciema).
Since 1995 she has been a soloist of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society.
Elena Popovskaya collaborates with leading philharmonic collectives: Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra; Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra; Novosibirsk Choir Chapel; Ensemble of soloists «Novosibirsk Kamerata"; The Early Music Ensemble "Insula magica"; Pavel Sharomov Vocal Ensemble; Filarmonica – Quartet. She participated in performing of such works as Bach's “The Passion for Matthew”, "Turangalîla Symphony" and "Three small liturgies" by Messiaen and others. Only with "Markell’s Voices" Ensemble Elena had more than a dozen large-scale projects: "Masterpieces of the Baroque", "Afrikando" "Immortal Bach," "Akhenaten", "Mysticism of sound", "Bach in Africa", "Shakuntala", and others.
Elena Popovskaya cooperates with touring and Novosibirsk vocalists, such as L. Malikova, O. Zhuravkina, J. Mamonova, T. Kostina, N. Kopylova, E. Kondratova, A. Varaksina, E. Zabarskaya, A. Konstantinova, A. Sokolov, G. Arseniev, V. Novikov, P. Pogorelov, V. Kovarsky. She prepares joint programs with instrumentalists, among them violinists S. Promoe, Y. Rubina, I. Zorkina, Y. Musikhin, cellists A. Eremenko, P. Dashkin, T. Shtabnaya; flutist E. Levitskaya, oboeists V. Gofman, N. Levashov, clarinetist M. Auns, bassoonist E. Badrakh.
Elena is the author of a number of projects in which she is the author of the idea, the artistic director, the performer, and in some, the director. “F. Chopin. Far from the Motherland”; "The Mystery of King Frederick"; W.A. Mozart "The Wedding of Figaro", O. Messiaen. "Yaravi", "Quartet at the end of time", etc.
From 2003 to 2006 she had worked (by the contract) at Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater with the orchestra "Musica Aeterna" and conductor T. Curentzis (opera performances and concert performances - from Purcell to Kancheli).
In her solo performance Elena often refers to the work of I.S. Bach, G. Purcell, English virginalists, French harpsichordists, D. Scarlatti, W.A. Mozart, F. Schubert, R. Schumann, F. Chopin, C. Debussy, F. Poulenc, P. Hindemith, S. Prokofiev, O. Messiaen, E. Vila-Lobos.
Elena Popovskaya is the Laureate of the Philharmonic Prize “Golden Key” (2006).
